Batumi International Art-House Film Festival – Closing

Sea, Sun and Art-House films for the entire week – this is paradise, isn’t it?

Well, It’s been fourth consecutive year, I’m visiting Batumi International Art-House Film Festival as a blogger and photographer. Following very diverse and rich choice of the films, on 20th of September, winners of BIAFF were announced at the Closing Ceremony.

“Mustang” was my favorite film among feature film, which is a debut feature film of the Turkish female film Director Deniz Gamze Ergüven. Film received BIAFF Award for the best actress – ensemble of women actresses in the film and Jury Special Award.

Among documentaries, BIAFF Award was given to my favorite “Double Aliens”, Ugis Olte, co-production of Latvia/Georgia and co-written and filmed by the Georgian based photojournalist Daro Sulakauri.

BIAFF GRAND PRIX was given to “Brother Dejan” by Bakur Bakuradze, unfortunately, I was not able to see the film at the Festival, though as my colleagues told me, the film was not quite suitable for the Grand Prix.

BIAFF Life time Achievement awards for contributions to the World cinema was granted to:

  • Nastassja Kinski (Germany)

  • Lana Gogoberidze (Georgia)
